Support Raising Boot Camp

Still smiling after over 24+ hours of homework, 24 hours of quality car time down and back to Lenexa, Kansas and sitting at boot camp soaking up lots of information for 20 hours in 2 days.

Our hearts overflow with thanksgiving for...God's incredible provision to attend the conference, gas for the trip, fitting transportation, tasty food to fuel our craziness, many answers to prayers and the blessing and encouragement of meeting many new friends who are also following God's leading on their lives to step out and become missionaries.  We were 2 out of 70 people at the conference who are all breaking out of our comfort zones to follow hard after Jesus.

You may be asking what's all this madness for?!
July 1, 2012 will mark Luke's last day serving at First Baptist Church, where he has wore the Youth Pastor hat for the last 6 years. We feel God leading us to become missionaries to Ripon College where Luke will be the Campus Minister.  We will have the privilege to live with, love and disciple the students (and faculty) as the Lord would allow. We're humbled by God's new calling on our lives.

There are also many moments in a day we wonder what in the world we've gotten ourselves into.  Why would we leave the comfort of our home, people whom we love and who love us dearly, a steady paycheck, etc.?!  There are days when we feel totally ill equipped to raise the support and succeed at the other important details of the job.

I can't help but think though that this is the perfect place for us to be.  We're at the end of ourselves.  In our flesh, we don't have what it takes to accomplish the Lord's will.  But that does not have to leave us to despair. Our hearts can rejoice, because at the end of ourselves, Jesus is there. GOD IS ENOUGH. This is where the rubber meets the road and we're choosing to live, by faith, in many unknowns.  Because it's what God has called us to do, it's worth it.

This decision didn't come without it's fair share of doubting, wrestling with our fleshly desires and outright questioning God. I threw my little pity party. Then it boiled down to the fact that we knew God was leading us to this. We had a choice....follow or disobey.

By God's amazing grace, He gave us the courage to follow.

"Let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus."
Hebrews 12:1-2
