Trick or Treating 2012

This year the kids chose costumes we already had in the dress up bin, which made this mama happy.

One of the 'joys' of living with only some of your belongings means that when it comes to trick or treating time you're trick or treating bags are safely packed in a bin 80 miles away.  I was feeling kind of bad for not buying them new ones until after I told Traeger we didn't have ours with us and he went right to work at creating his own out of a ziploc and grocery bag.  Thankful for these kinds of lessons that you couldn't come up with on your own and flexible kids who roll with the punches (most of the time).

We had a karate/ninja on our hands.
The ninja in action.

As well as a roaring lioness.

Let's get the show on the road.

Which house has their lights on?
(Or here in Ripon many of the people were sitting outside waiting to share their goodies)

Someone's legs got tired.

Our first trick or treating experience in Ripon under our belts.

Trick or treating...take two

We joined the Oshkosh cousins for trick or treating in their neighborhood.
After failed attempts at holding back the boy's eagerness to run house to house, Cori told the boys they could go ahead.  An hour and a half later we found them still on the hunt with overflowing bags.  They scored a ton of candy and were gracious to sort it out and donate hundreds of pieces to be used to encourage the college students around finals time.  They had plenty left for themselves too when it was all said and done.

Which way should we go Ataly?
